Our First Cleanup - Norris Lake, TN

We were super excited to join a cleanup that began at Blue Springs Marina in Speedwell, TN on beautiful Norris Lake! The cleanup was sponsored by The Norris Lake Project in Tennessee. The Norris Lake Project Team was founded in 2009 as a 501c3 Charitable Organization organized to preserve the natural beauty and conserve the natural resources of the Norris Lake Watershed area while assisting the local governments combat the deterioration of natural resources in the surrounding communities. We spent 3 hours with other volunteers cleaning up a portion of the lake’s shoreline, collecting Styrofoam blocks, tires, cans, bottles and other trash. We were exhausted by the end. Who knew that waterlogged Styrofoam was so heavy?! It was rewarding to see the huge dumper so full because of everyone’s hard work!
